Concert for Aquabox – raising vital funds for clean drinking water
After our concert at St. Mary’s Church in Wirksworth, Fishpond Choir members were delighted to visit our friends at Aquabox to present them with a cheque for over £1,800 … enough to provide clean drinking water for over 1,830 people.
On 19th September, a packed church enjoyed a programme of songs by Eric Whitacre, KarlJenkins and Henry Mancini as well as music from opera, film and West End musicals, all inspired by the wonder and mystery of the Earth, Moon and Stars. The concert profits all went to support the lifesaving work of Aquabox.
A group from the choir were treated to a fascinating depot tour where they witnessed how volunteers assemble the almost magical Aquabox water filters. The ingeniously ‘simple’ engineering brings lifesaving clean water to people in disaster zones, war or drought-stricken areas of the world.
After the tour, Claire De la Haye and James Churchill from the Fishpond Choir presented acheque to Roger Cassidy, Chair of Trustees at Aquabox.
Roger said, “This is the second year the choir have performed in Wirksworth, and we are so grateful for this fantastic support from such a talented Choir.”
For the Fishpond Choir, supporting local charities is an extremely important part of our raison d’être. Aquabox does such invaluable work – powered by gifted and dedicated local volunteers – that it is wonderful for our members to be involved and able to make a significant contribution in this way.
