We are fortunate to have Jon Hickinbotham as both our rehearsal and concert accompanist. Jon joined the choir in 2022 and is an extremely accomplished pianist and musician.
Originally starting out on a keyboard at the age of seven before moving onto the organ, Jon played regularly at the local church during his teens. Moving to university meant that the piano became his instrument of choice and brought new playing experiences as part of a band, in musicals such as Bugsy Malone and Joseph.
Working life after university meant that for 20 years, music was mostly for personal enjoyment, with performances at the occasional friend’s wedding. So the opportunity to play for the Fishpond Choir has been a fantastic experience and has brought a renewed focus for practice and performance. As a talented pianist, Jon enjoys the wide and eclectic mix of music that the choir sings and the challenges that accompanying a large choir brings.
In his spare time, Jon is a local GP and father to three energetic young boys, who love coming to the Fishpond concerts, usually in the front row!
