Our Musical Director, Claire De la Haye, joined the Fishpond Choir in 2022, taking over the baton from Dana de Waal. Under Claire’s leadership, the choir has extended the scope of its repertoire and built a reputation for accomplished performances that often sell out.
A graduate in Music & Art History, Claire is an experienced musician, soloist (mezzo soprano), choral singer and singing teacher.
She was an early member of the internationally renowned City of Sheffield Girls’ Choir, which she joined as their youngest member, aged just 10, and subsequently competed and performed with the choir worldwide for eight years, as well as singing extensively with opera, choral and musical theatre companies since her teenage years.
As well as directing the Fishpond Choir, Claire is the founder and musical director of Bel Canto Ladies’ Choir and Chamber Choir, based in Baslow and choral director of St. Anne’s Church Choir, Baslow.
Her passion for creating beautiful music and her enthusiasm for choral training is something she hopes to share with everyone in the choir as we go from strength to strength.
